Adding a new twist to the case related to the assault of a female actor, forensic surgeons have raised objections to media reports suggesting that a forensic doctor working in a private medical college in Kochi had displayed a video footage related to the case while taking class on forensic medicine.
T.S. Hithesh Shankar, secretary, Kerala Medico-legal Society, an organisation of police surgeons and medico-legal experts, has written to Loknath Behera, State Police Chief, pointing out that if the report which appeared on Tuesday is to be believed, the incident happened in the last week of June, much before actor Dileep was arrested in the case.
“It is a mystery how the doctor was privy to such crucial information related to the case much before the investigators had access to the video,” Dr. Shankar said in the letter on Wednesday. He wondered how the police officers reportedly handed over such sensitive data to a private hospital when there were many forensic experts attached to the Police Department. Dr. Shankar said their organisation suspected a move to even save the accused in the case as the bail application moved by Dileep is expected to come up in an Angamaly court on Thursday.
“If the news is true, the forensic doctor should be brought before the law, otherwise the reporter and the editor of the news organisation should face legal action,” Dr. Shankar said.
The media report had claimed that after attending the class, some students informed their parents, one of who was a doctor, about it. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the police had searched the hospital though the management claims that nothing related to the case had been displayed in their institution.
