In a crackdown on power theft, authorities today imposed fines of over Rs 2 lakh and registered FIRs against four people in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.
The Rajouri district administration in the drive imposed fines of Rs 2,44,086 in 76 inspections at feeders in five subdivisions today, a officer said.
"In the last four days a total fine of Rs 7,36,634 has been imposed in such cases. Four FIRs have also been registered in cases of illegal usage of power in Rajouri-II Division," he said.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary launched the drive with assistance from Executive Magistrates concerned and police earlier this week, the officer said.
In all 461 inspections have been conducted and Rs 7.36 lakh infine has been imposed, he said.
Fines of Rs 92,880 was imposed in Sunderbani, Rs 69,573 in Rajouri-II, Rs 53,633 in Rajouri-I, Rs 17,000 in Koteranka and Rs 11,000 in Nowshera, the officer said.
The Rs 2.04 lakh fine was imposed in Kalakote yesterday and the highest fine of Rs 3.64 Lakh was imposed in Rajouri-II division, he said.
As an outcome of this drive a total of 199 connections involving 173.55 KW load were regularised, he said.
