A freak accident, when the door of a wagon of a goods train opened and hit an electric mast, affected train movement in the Howrah-Kharagpur section of the South Eastern Railway today.
The goods train was moving towards Kharagpur when a door of a wagon accidentally opened at a place between Birshibpur and Kulgachia stations and hit an electric mast causing it to bend dangerously, South Eastern Railway spokesperson Sanjoy Ghosh said.
The middle line of the three lines was shut for repairs following the accident at around 3.00 PM, leading to cancellation of a Panskura-Howrah EMU local train and delay in movement of some other trains in the section, Ghosh said.
Train services were maintained through the other two lines, which were open, he said.
