On the issue of demanding a separate flag by the state of Karnataka, the has condemned the matter saying the Central needs to take this matter seriously and intervene.

Speaking to ANI, leader Manisha Kayande said that the Central should consider this issue seriously.

"should be taught a lesson for this," she said, adding that no State can ask for a separate flag.

"We have our own flag and disregarding that and asking for their own flag is a big blunder," she said.

The constituted a nine-member committee to submit a report to the state on the possibility of designing a separate flag for the state.

Journalist-writer and president of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Dharward, Patil Puttappa and social worker Bheemappa Gundappa Gadada had submitted a representation to the government, following which the committee was constituted.

They had urged the to design a separate flag for Kannada 'naadu' and accord statutory standing for that.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the demand for a separate flag for the state, asking if there is any provision in the Constitution that prohibits the state from having its own flag.
