Man arrested on charge of duping architect

The City Market police have arrested a 52-year-old man on charge of duping a city-based architect. According to the police, the accused, posing as a social activist running an NGO, approached Praveen Kumar, an architect in Chickpet, and purchased three gold chains from him worth ₹1.08 lakh.

The accused presented a cheque to the victim, which bounced due to insufficient funds.

Based on a complaint, the police tracked down Jagadish Shah from his house in Yelahanka and recovered 21 gold chains worth ₹ 9.4 lakh.

The police suspect that Shah could have cheated many more in the city. Further investigations are on, a police official said.
