Inflows increase as flood water from non-catchment areas reaches the Godavari

As the flood water from non-catchment areas started flowing into river Godavari, the inflows suddenly increased on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, the pond level at Dowleswaram was 13.96 metres and 10.96 feet was recorded at the barrage.

According to Head Works engineers, as there are no rains in catchment area, the flood is likely to recede by Wednesday.

Traffic disrupted

Torrential rains hit merged mandals in East Godavari from Monday night and traffic was disrupted on Tuesday as large trees fell on the road between Chinturu and Bhadrachalam.

Many streams and drains in Agency, including Atta-Kodalla Vagu, are overflowing from Tuesday and there was heavy inflow to Polluru Vagu in Chinturu mandal.

As the heavy rains continued for second day in Agency, the interior villages are becoming inaccessible to officials and medical teams.
