The Thirumullaivoyal Police arrested a 26-year-old man on charge of stealing from his brother’s house in the police quarters at Thirumullaivoyal.
Police said a week ago, A. Sathya, 26, of Madurai, who has been preparing for competitive examinations, lodged a complaint alleging theft from her bag.
She was living in the house of Marimuthu, 30, sub-inspector of Tamil Nadu Special Police, in the police quarters at S.M. Nagar.
She found 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery, a laptop and mobile phones had been stolen from her bag.
The investigation officer noticed that Marimuthu’s brother Muthukumar had gone missing.
During interrogation, Muthukumar admitted that he had committed the theft.
The police recovered the jewellery and other valuables from him.
