The Telangana government will take up a special drive for proper maintenance of land records in August. The drive is also expected to give clarity on land-related disputes since the revenue and agriculture departments have the land records.

According to officials, the discrepancies would be set right during the drive. If need be, about 15,000 unemployed youths would be drafted for carrying out the special drive with monthly wages of ₹ 20,000.

The land details finalised during the special drive would be used for crediting the input investment assistance of ₹ 4,000 per acre per season. These decisions were taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao here on Tuesday.

The meeting also finalised the guidelines for formation of farmers’ unions (groups) from village level. Accordingly, every revenue village will have one farmers’ union and all farmers having agricultural land will be enrolled as a member into such groups.

The government would appoint a 11-member coordination committee comprising farmers from SC, ST, BC, women and minorities from among the members to represent the union. On the lines of the composition of coordination committee for village-level union, the committees for mandal, district and State farmers unions would also be formed.
