The Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday directed the State government to consider a representation made by a public interest litigation petitioner to ensure that the Tamil text in name boards of government as well as private establishments is displayed prominently compared to English or any other language.
A Division Bench of Justices K.K. Sasidharan and G.R. Swaminathan ordered that the representation must be considered and disposed of within four months in the light of the mandate set in a Government Order which insists on giving prominence to Tamil in the name boards placed outside government establishments.
