Penalty likely if notregistered by July 30

Tne Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the traders to register under GST immediately and avoid penalty.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, senior president of the Chamber S Rethinavelu pointed out that dealers registered under erstwhile tax laws would have to get GST registration before July 30, failing which a fine would be imposed for non-compliance.

“Do not wait for the last date to register/migrate to GST. Get the provisional registration certificate before July 22,” he appealed to traders.

For converting provisional registration to permanent one, application should be made with the required documents before September 22, the statement said.

The registration process has been simplified. Dealers can apply online and get the registration certificate within 3 days, he said urging those that have postponed registration to upload the details immediately.
