SC transfers case to Guwahati HC involving Manipur CM's son

The Supreme on Tuesday provided security to parents and lawyer of Irom Roger, who was killed in a road rage incident by Chief Minister N Biren Singh's son, Meetai.

They would be provided by the (CRPF) personnel.

The was hearing a plea filed by Roger's parent seeking protection, safety and security to them. They had moved the SC in May.

The also transferred the case to Guwahati High and said it would continue to monitor the case.

Roger, was allegedly killed when he did not allow Meetai's SUV to take over his vehicle.

Meetai,was sentenced to five years jail term in January 2017, under section 304 (Culpabale homicide not amounting to murder) of the (IPC) for firing at the victim, Roger in a road rage incident on March 20, 2011.

Meetai has been awarded five-year jail term, but Roger's parents are not satisfied and have appealed against it.
