New Delhi, July 18:
With M Venakaiah Naidu resigning from the Cabinet and moving on to file his nomination for the upcoming Vice-Presidential election, in a quick change of guard Textiles Minister Smriti Irani has been given the additional responsibility of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Irani will be the fourth Minister in the Modi government, who will oversee the portfolio of I & B Ministry, in a span of three years. Irani formally took charge as the I & B Minister on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Naidu’s other portfolio of Ministry of Urban Development will now be taken up by Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. He currently holds the portfolios of Ministries of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation.
