Actor Kishore turns solo hero in Urudhikol, a village-based film

After a National and State Award-winning performance in Pasanga and a blistering turn as one among a group of teenagers that sets right a wrong in Goli Soda, Kishore now turns solo hero with Urudhikol, directed by newcomer Ayyanar.

And, after years of being part of an ensemble cast, Kishore says he is looking forward to showcasing his individual ability on the big screen. “I started work on this in May 2015. We shot for some time for the school portion and waited for me to grow older, for the second portion. I liked the scope of the story and felt this could be an opportunity to prove myself,” says the 23-year-old actor.

The film, he says, is a village subject, and involves young love and what happens some years later.

The actor has always come across as casual on screen, and he says he continues to be that way.

“I usually don’t allow pressure to get to me. I don’t prepare much for any role. I have a brief outline, and then go by what the director wants me to do. Once I’m on the sets, things spontaneously fall into place,” he says.

But, Urudhikol did see him get a little jittery. “Luckily, I had a very encouraging crew, and they kept pushing me to give my best.” The film sees him paired with Meghana, and there’s singing and dancing too.

“I’m usually not comfortable romancing on screen, but my dance training helped,” he smiles.

The young actor will team up, “hopefully within a year”, with Vijay Milton, who gave him his biggest hit, Goli Soda. That will also see the boys who showed thugs their might come together again on the big screen.

Sagaa, where Kishore teams up with his fellow National Award winner Sree Raam, is also ready for release, and the actor hopes the film will justify the faith he placed in the script.

“I’ve been going very slow, and I’m choosy about what projects I take up. I’ve got a rare chance, and I don’t want to waste it. Which is why I’ve decided that I will take up any film where performance will be spoken about; I’m not going to be particular about only solo projects.”
