A peacock which fell into a well on the Pudukottai Collectorate campus on Monday was rescued by a team of firefighters.
The bird had accidentally fallen in the morning hours into the well which had water up to some feet. Acting on an alert from the Collectorate, the firefighters went to the spot. One of them was sent inside the well through a ladder and he rescued the bird. The operation lasted about 30 minutes. The bird was later released, said the firefighters.
