The YSR Congress has decided to organise preparatory mass contact programmes across all the 175 constituencies in the State ahead of party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra starting in October.
The party has decided to sensitise people about the failures of the ruling Telugu Desam Government in fulfilling its election promises. It would also educate the people about the need to bring YSRC into power so that the nine major assurances given by the party during its recent plenary are fulfilled.
YSRC senior leader Dharmana Prasada Rao, Botcha Satyanarayana, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and Bhumana Karunakara Reddy released a poster of the party’s mass contact programme here on Monday. The mass contact programme starting August 10 was aimed at gearing up the party cadre from booth committee level for campaigning about the promises made during the party’s plenary. During the second phase of the campaign starting from September 2, the party would distribute pamphlets highlighting the failures of the TDP government in fulfilling the promises it made before the previous elections.
Different sections of the society including farmers, women and students were facing hardships due to the inability of the TDP in fulfilling its promises. The YSRC had therefore decided to instil confidence among the people that it was committed to alleviate the hardships faced by the people.
The ruling TDP favoured select few at the expense of the vast majority. The non-implementation of farm loan waiver promise for instance had rendered farmers as defaulters and banks were unwilling to give fresh loans to them, they said.
The situation was no different in the case of women self-help groups for whom loan waiver was assured but not implemented as also the old age pensions that were not reaching eligible beneficiaries.
Keeping the hardships of farmers in view, Mr. Jagan promised to credit ₹ 50,000 each besides constituting market intervention fund, and natural calamity fund.
