A staffer of a leading Marathi channel allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train at Lower Parel station, Railway Police said today.

Nitin Shirke, who took the extreme step, was working as sound engineer for the channel, a GRP official said.

Moments before he allegedly committed suicide, in his post, he held a female colleague "responsible" for his death. In the post, he claimed that he was in love with the female colleague, who "used" him for three years, added the official.

Last night, Shirke jumped before a train from platform number one of the station, the official said, adding his body has been retrieved and send for post-mortem.

A case of accidental death was registered and a probe was on, he said.
