Court directs CBI Director of Prosecution to appear on Tuesday

A special here on Monday ordered CBI's Director of Prosecution to appear before it on Tuesday, as it is unable to proceed further in a 21-year-old graft case involving former Union Minister P.K. Thungon in the absence of the public prosecutor.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Kamini Lau directed the Director of Prosecution to appear before it on Tuesday and explain why a penalty should not be imposed on the investigation agency for seeking adjournment due to the absence of the prosecutor in a day-to-day trial.

The order came after the CBI's public prosecutor did not appear despite repeated calls since morning.
