360 Degree, a collective of photography enthusiasts, has done it again — using art to spread a smile on the faces of the less privileged. The group held its third edition of exhibition, proceeds from which will go for charity work.
The two-day exhibition came to a close at the Manaveeyam Veedhi on Sunday. The programme was organised with the prime goal of utilising the proceeds from the sale of the photographs for various charitable activities.
The third edition of the 360 Degree photography exhibition was organised as part of its ‘Spread a Smile’ challenge.
The organisation generally holds four charity events every year, says Gautham Ravindran, a law student, who coordinates the activities of the organisation.
The group of young photographers, who got together through Facebook, recently floated the NGO to further their aspiration of lending a helping hand to those in need. The group has students from various educational institutions, all of who have put up an impressive array of photographs taken from various countries.
“We had collected around ₹50,000 from a similar exhibition that was conducted at the Museum Auditorium a year ago for contributing to the Regional Cancer Centre. Our achievement turned out to be an eye-opener. It made us realise the potential of such events in raising funds that could be used to bring a smile on the faces of many who were less privileged. Since then, we have registered as an NGO and our small collective of eight people have slowly burgeoned into a group of around 20 within a short span,” says Mr. Ravindran.
