Fire accident in Chennai bakery leaves one fireman dead and several injured

A fireman who was dousing the fire that broke out in a bakery in Meenambal Street in Kodungaiyur was killed on Saturday night. Three persons of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS), who suffered severe burn injuries are being treated at the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.

A senior official of the TNFRS said they recieved a phone call about a fire in the bakery located in the ground floor of a bulding in Kodungaiyur. Immediately two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. As fire personnel were fighting to control the flames, a gas cylinder inside the bakery exploded, injuring several fire personnel and residents.

The injured fire personnel were rushed to the KMC for treatment where one of them, Egaraj, died.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswamy and senior police officers visited the injured at the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital.
