Man arrested for cheating by promising to get visas for Gulf

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man hailing from for duping several people by promising to arrange work visas for and other countries.

Mohammad Taqrique Mohammad Mumtaz Khan, who is from Akbarpur in Nawada district of Bihar, was arrested from Kalyan in district yesterday.


Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Pratap Dighavkar said Prakash Bodke, a local resident, had lodged a complaint with Bazarpeth police station of Kalyan that Khan duped him and many others who were seeking overseas jobs after promising to get them work visas for Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other Gulf-region countries.

Khan charged Rs 10-20,000 each, but didn't arrange visas, the complainant said.

Police also seized Rs 1.75 lakh in and several passports from Khan's house in Kalyan.

He was booked under section 420 (cheating) and other relevant offences under the IPC. Further probe is on.
