According to the police, the accident occurred around 8.10 am opposite Terige Bhavan. Two trucks ferrying six workers each were heading to a construction site in Nagarbhavi. The driver of a truck failed to control the vehicle when he approached Terige Bhavan due to a high-rise pedestrian crossing. The truck abruptly slowed down as he applied brakes.
The driver of the second truck, who was tailing the first, failed to control the vehicle and crashed into it. The impact of the collision was such that both the vehicles toppled. Nagappa was killed on the spot due to massive injuries. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to two private hospitals.
About 15 people, most of them relatives, had come to Bengaluru from Shahapur a few years ago searching for jobs. They reside in makeshift sheds at Nandini Layout. The police are searching for one driver who is at large, while the other driver is being treated for injuries at the hospital.
