
India qualified for the semi-final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 for the first time since 2010 after they beat New Zealand by 186 runs in the final group game. Put into bat first in the do-or-die game India lost two early wickets of the openers by captain Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Singh rebuilt the innings and before the latter was dismissed, India were looking for a total close to 230. But, Veda Krishnamurthy’s 45-ball 70 gave India the momentum and they finished with a total of 265/7 with Mithali scoring a century. Rajeshwari Gayakwad took her first five-wicket haul in ODIs as India bowled out New Zealand for 79.
