No suicide note; victims may be minors

A girl and a boy, suspected to be minors, allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from a ceiling fan in a hotel room in Dwarka’s Sector 17. The police hadn’t recovered any suicide note till late on Friday night.

Checked in on Thursday

According to the police, the girl was a student of medicine at a Delhi college while the boy was an engineering aspirant. The duo had checked into the hotel around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening.

“They were supposed to check out at 12 noon on Friday, but they didn’t. The hotel staff knocked at their door around 3 p.m., but did not receive a response. They knocked again around 5:30 p.m. When no one opened, the staff called the police,” said a senior police office.

Used a bedsheet

When the police reached the spot, they broke open the door and found the two hanging.

Describing the scene, the officer said the duo was found hanging from a single fan using a bedsheet. “They had put a chair on the bed and used a white bedsheet,” he said.

Room to be sealed

Inquest proceedings have been initiated and the bodies will be sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Saturday,” said the officer.

After preliminary investigation, the officer said that the girl was a resident of Rohini and was staying in her college hostel. “The boy, a resident of Dwarka, had told his parents that he was going for coaching,” said the officer.
