Third list sees dip of up to 5%; students have time till July 17 to take admission

The third cut-off list released by Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) on Friday saw a significant drop in the required percentage for various courses.

While the cut-offs for economics and psychology fell by 1-2%, that of mathematics, history and sociology dropped by 5%, 4.25% and 3%, respectively. For social sciences, the percentage fell by 3%.

AUD also released a list of students who had requested a change from the Karampura campus to the Kashmere Gate campus before the third list was announced.

Making it simple

This year, AUD has made the admission process very simple as it has released a list with the names of students who have cleared the cut-off, which leaves no scope for ambiguity. It has even allocated which campus the student has to visit to take admission.

Students seeking admission under the third cut-off list have time till July 17 to take admission before the fourth list is declared on July 18. The university reserves 85% seats for students from Delhi-NCR.

This year, for a total of 85 seats in B.A. programmes for its Kashmere Gate and Karampura campuses, AUD had in its first cut-off list released names of 277 students for B.A. (Hons.) Economics, 364 for B.A. (Hons.) English and 324 for B.A. (Hons.) Psychology.

Despite the cut-offs dipping significantly at AUD, seats have not been filled in any of the courses in the general category for both NCR and outstation students. The dip also comes at a time when seats are filling fast at Delhi University under the fourth list.

AUD offers hostel facilities to women on the Kashmere Gate campus. Students can apply for accommodation once they have secured admission.

Fee waiver

The university also offers full and partial fee waivers to undergraduate students who are in need of support in relation to their socio-economic backgrounds.

All students with a family income less than ₹6 lakh per year are considered for a fee waiver in proportion to their income.

Full fee waiver is extended to all students belonging to the SC, ST and PwD categories. Students in need can also make use of a Student Welfare Fund instituted to assist students in need for meeting expenses towards purchase of books, photocopying and travel.

Safety panel formed

AUD has an elected a Committee Against the Prevention of Sexual Harassment, which addresses complaints of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
