Seven colleges in Ernakulam district figure among the top 10 most preferred institutions offering undergraduate programmes under the Mahatma Gandhi University in the 2017-18 academic year.
U.C. College, Aluva, topped the list going by the option count (60,867) for various programmes offered by the college as per the official admission data available after the fourth round of allotment under the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, was at second position with 46,019 options followed by Baselius College, Kottayam (45,135) at third place and NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry (36,261) and Sree Sankara College, Kalady (35,202) at fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The autonomous colleges under the varsity will not come under the list, as the admission to these institutions is being conducted by the managements itself.
Other colleges in Ernakulam that came in the top 10 list include Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha (33,178); St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery (32,779); Cochin College (32,236); and St. Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva (29,860).
The remaining colleges in the top 20 include BCM College, Kottayam (29,058); St. Peter’s College, Kolencherry (27,833); Kuriakose Elias College, Mannanam (24,268); Newman College, Thodupuzha (23,374); Marthoma College, Thiruvalla (22,046); Government College, Natakom (21,784); Devamatha College, Kuravilangad (18,206); St. Thomas College, Pala (17,979); Alphonsa College, Pala (17,759); and St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry (17,252).
