Three killed in accidents

A series of road accidents in and around Porur resulted in the death of three persons, including a 60-year-old man, on Wednesday.

In the first accident, R. Kasi, 60, a resident of Ambattur, was killed after an unidentified car hit him while he was cleaning a stretch of the Porur-Kundrathur Road around 5.30 a.m. The victim died on the spot. Officers of the Poonamallee traffic investigation wing visited the spot and sent the body to the Government Kilpauk College Hospital for post-mortem.

The police are searching for the driver of the vehicle.

In another incident, a 45-year-old motorist proceeding on the Outer Ring Road was killed near Kundrathur after he slipped from his two-wheeler and hit an electricity pole. The victim, K. Kumaran, was killed on the spot and his body was sent to SRMC for post-mortem.

An IT professional was killed after his vehicle rammed another vehicle that was parked in an unauthorised space on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway near Chembarambakkam on Tuesday night.

An officer of the Poonamallee traffic investigation wing said the victim was G. Muthusamy, 25, of Manapparai. His body was sent to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

The officer said haphazard parking of vehicles on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway was posing a risk to many motorsists.
