Bengaluru: P. Kashyap lost to Japan’s Koki Watanabe 10-21, 21-10, 15-21 in the second round of the Canada Open Grand Prix badminton at Calagry on Wednesday. Kashyap, the 16 seed, went down to World No. 103 Watanabe.
Second seed H.S. Pranoy advanced to the third round with a 21-17, 16-21, 21-15 victory over Scotland’s Kieran Merrilees while Abhishek Yeligar and Karan Rajan also posted victories in their second round matches.
In the women’s section, Ruthvika Shivani got past South Korea’s Ga Kim 6-21, 21-19, 21-13 in the first round.
