IIMB’s MOOCs lauded by President

The Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) programme of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore w(IIMB) as lauded by President Pranab Mukherjee during the launch of the Union government’s SWAYAM platform in New Delhi recently. Itwas recognised for making management education accessible through open online courses.

The award function was part of the National Convention on Digital Initiatives for Higher Education organised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to celebrate teaching and learning, a release said.

IIMB is also the national coordinator for management education on SWAYAM and has completed five MOOCs on the SWAYAM platform till date. The IIMBx MOOCs Programme is the institute’s digital learning gateway and has offered online courses to over five lakh global learners in various core and specialised management subjects. Since 2015, IIMBx has trained more than 750 management teachers in blended learning, the release said.

“MOOCs offer multifold benefits to the higher education scenario in India – wider access, enriched pedagogy, and capacity-building in teachers and learners. IIMB is committed to offering high-quality management education courses on the SWAYAM platform and will strive to become a knowledge hub for digital learning in India,” IIMB director Prof. G. Raghuram was quoted as saying.
