Actor Dileep was brought to Thrissur on Thursday for collecting evidence in the case related to the abduction and sexual assault of a woman actor.
He was taken to three locations in the city – Joys Palace Hotel, The Garuda Hotel and Kinattingal Tennis and Sports Academy. According to the police, Dileep had discussions with 'Pulsar' Suni (Sunil Kumar), the first accused in the case, in these places during the shooting of his recent movie Georgettan’s Pooram.
The police took Dileep to Joys Palace Hotel first. He had discussions with Suni in his car at the parking lot of the hotel. Suni, who came on a motorcycle, reportedly recorded his name and phone number in the visitor’s register at the hotel.
The police then took the actor to The Garuda Hotel, where he reportedly stayed for 20 days during the shooting of his film.
Later, he was taken to Kinattingal Tennis and Sports Academy, Punkunnam, where the shooting of Georgettan’s Pooram was held.
The police had recovered selfies taken by employees of the Academy with Dileep, in which Suni was also captured. According to the investigation team, Dileep and Suni were under the same mobile tower location for almost three hours on November 13, 2016. The employees of the Academy had reportedly given a statement that they saw Dileep having a conversation with Suni.
The police collected statements from the actor at the Academy in the presence of the employees.
Crowds, including members of various youth organisations, waited outside these locations hours before the police team arrived. They hooted, waved black flags and raised slogans against the actor. But Dileep, looking calm, smiled and waved at the crowd. He refused to respond to journalists' queries.
Traffic on the busy Thrissur-Kozhikode road, where the Academy is situated, was disrupted for hours. The police team left around 12.30 p.m. after completing the procedures. A strong police force was deployed in the city.
