Heavy police force throws ordinary life out of gear

A curfew like situation prevailed in various parts of the town on Wednesday during the visit of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao as a result of the police imposing strict restrictions and forcing shops and business establishements on the CM’s convoy route to be shut.

As part of security measures, the police have made unprecedented security arrangements by deploying a large number of police personnel in various parts of the town on Wednesday. All along the convoy route and at Ambedkar stadium and in front of Collectorate, the police had imposed several restrictions by downing the shutters of all shops.

ATMs closed

Even ATM centres were closed causing inconvenience to the people. Employees entering the Collectorate and customers visiting the national bank located on the premises of Collectorate were also denied entry into the premises by the police officials. Small-time traders and others suffered heavily as their shops remained closed till evening.

The police had deployed more than 2,000 police personnel for the bandobust duties. Two SP rank officers, two Additional SP rank officers, six DSPs, 35 inspectors, 101 sub-inspectors, four women SIs, 91 ASI and head constables, 701 constables, 56 women constables and women homeguards, 101 homeguards, 11 quick reaction teams, one armed reserve team and 20 bomb disposal and dog squads were deployed for the CM security.

For the first time, the police had installed the CCTV cameras at all the venues where the Chief Minister had toured for closely monitoring the security arrangements.
