While the shadow of the dark cloud of the liquor ban has left forlorn those looking for a place to dine over drinks, all is not lost. There are still some restro-bars. The new hip place in Koramangala is 52 Wall Street.
An ‘after hours’ hangout place, 52 Wall Street is packed most days. The retro all–American decor, inspired by the clutter of a ‘stock market’, with colourful walls and pillars and even a life-like Uncle Sam mural along with food and drinks menu makes it a nice place to have a good time. There’s a small dance floor too, but on the weekday we visit, people are perhaps too tired to dance, they’d rather chat over drinks and snacks.
There are a variety of cocktails to choose from the drinks menu. We settle for their signature nutty Russian cocktail, which is a unique combination of vodka and chocolate, with a piece of kitkat chocolate to munch on after finishing the drink. The mocktails are a must order too, they are instantly refreshing. We then nibble on some peanuts masala, which is too ordinary to be written much about. Following these are onion rings that are crunchy and not too oily.
The classic orange American chicken, though, is good for its sweet and tangy flavours. The Wall Street buffalo wings are popular, but yet again are not particularly remarkable. Chicken tikka masala is served within the hollow of a loaf of bread. We are served rice, but we suggest that you savour the chicken tikka masala with bread just for a change of a taste, so to speak.
The kimchi pork belly is decidedly unique and so is the chimichurri chicken steak. However, what takes the cake is the desserts. The brownie with ice cream is to die for.
The soothing ambience and just the fact that there is a place where you get drinks makes 52 Wall Street a decent choice.
