Senior IAS officer Subhash Chandra Garg on Tuesday assumed office as the new Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs. A 1983 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Rajasthan cadre, Garg was appointed as the Economic Affairs Secretary on June 21. He was posted as Executive Director, World Bank in Washington, DC since 2014 and was responsible for Bhutan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. A Bachelor in Commerce, Garg is also a certified company secretary and cost accountant and also has a degree in law.
