The Union government should implement the directions of the Supreme Court on cattle sale, CPI(M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said here on Wednesday.
Addressing reporters in Nagercoil, he urged the Centre to withdraw its ban order on sale and slaughter of cattle. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court stayed the Union government’s ban order. The stay had now been upheld by the Supreme Court. Hence, the Centre should withdraw its ban order forthwith, he said.
Mr. Ramarkrishnan accused the BJP of inciting communal clash to get political gain in the State. Due to the “wrong” campaign on slaughter ban, 29 people were killed in 69 violent incidents across the nation, he alleged.
