Asus launches Zenfone AR in India, priced at Rs 49,990

After Lenovo, Asus has announced the launch of its Tango-based augmented reality (AR) smartphone, which is also Daydream View compatible. The Zenfone AR packs in high-end specifications and has been priced at Rs 49,990. It will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Tango is an AR computing platform developed by Google and Daydream View is Google's new virtual reality (VR) headset.

To provide AR features, the new smartphone is equipped with a 23 MP primary camera, along with a fisheye camera with 170 degree field of view and a depth-sensing camera with IR projection. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor (optimised for Tango) and has 8 GB of RAM.

For Daydream, Asus has added a 5.7 inch 2k display with 515 pixel per inch display. To eliminate the motion blur, it has 2ms low persistence. Asus claims to have added Visual Master 3.0 for enhanced visuals.

The device comes with 128 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 1 TB. As AR and VR apps can be power hungry, it has got a 3300 mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge, which can charge 60 per cent of the battery in 45 minutes.
