Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Wednesday urged the government to act against the Centre’s move to conduct common entrance exam for the appointment of judges in lower courts.

“Similar to NEET, the government is attempting to bring a common entrance test for appointment of district-level judges. This attempt is against the principles of democracy and State autonomy,” Mr. Stalin said in the Assembly and called for the government’s attention. Mr. Stalin also said there are reports that seven States, including BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, have filed an affidavit in Supreme Court for the common entrance test.

Tamil Nadu government should put pressure on the Centre and say no to the common entrance test, besides adopting a resolution and filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court.
