The Andhra Pradesh government’s efforts to rope in the hard-working and enterprising Japanese industry to not only make investments in the State but also share their technologies received a fillip in the form of the Memorandums of Cooperation (MoC) signed with the Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) here on Wednesday.
What is particularly rewarding for the A.P. Department of Infrastructure and Investment (IID), Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA)’s extensive promotional drive is the interest shown by six Japanese giants — Fuji Electric, Toshiba, Sumitomo Corporation, Nippon Signal, Kobelco and JFE Engineering in becoming stakeholders in the development of A.P., particularly Amaravati.
In fact, they are among the host of Japanese companies which signed Memorandums of Cooperation (MoCs) with the Government of A.P. in fields as diverse as smart city infrastructure, waste water treatment, traffic decongestion and a ‘disaster prevention solution.’
Tremendous potential
Welcoming the Japanese delegation to the A.P.-Japan Public-Private Joint Conference, Principal Secretary (IID) Ajay Jain and EDB CEO J. Krishna Kishore said A.P. was upbeat with the foray of those reputed Japanese firms, which came in at the right time to tap the tremendous potential offered by the Sunrise State which had a favourable business climate and a plethora of logistical advantages backed by a skilled human resource.
