Majji Sankara Rao, former rural tahsildar, who is one of the main accused in land records tampering cases at PM Palem, Madhurawada and Kommadi areas in the city, was sent to five days of police custody on Wednesday.
It may recalled that Majji Sankara Rao was recently arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for possessing disproportionate assets over and above his known sources of income and he is in judicial remand.
Based on a request made by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is investigating the alleged land scam the local court has granted the police custody for Rao up to July 16.
The police said Sankara Rao was taken into police custody for SIT inquiry into the land records tampering.
The SIT has till now received a total of 1112 complaints as on Wednesday and found that the land records of over 396 acres were tampered.
