Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Wednesday the State will face severe shortfall in electricity generation if the monsoon rains failed this year too and hydel reservoirs remained half-filled.
He will meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday evening to discuss the power situation in the State owing to inadequate rainfall.
Speaking to presspersons here after meeting with Dominic McAllister, British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Shivakumar said efforts would be made to ensure regular electricity supply to farmers and industries.
Currently, there was demand for 8300 MW daily during normal hours and 9,000 MW during peak hours, he said.
