Get traders registered under GST

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday gave a deadline to all Chief Secretaries to get all traders registered under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime by August 15.

“The Prime Minister urged all Chief Secretaries to work expeditiously towards ensuring that all traders register under the GST regime, and this task is completed before August 15,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said, after the Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Pragati) meeting.

The Prime Minister also took stock of the flood and other natural calamities in North-Eastern States in his review of the infrastructure projects on Wednesday.

Mr. Modi further reviewed the progress of long-pending infrastructure projects in the railway, road and petroleum sectors in states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, among others.

“The projects reviewed today, include the Chennai Beach-Korukkupet third line and the Chennai Beach-Attippattu fourth line; the Howrah-Amta-Champadanga new Broad Gauge line; and four-laning of Varanasi bypass; four-laning of Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar section of NH-58,” the statement said.
