BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said her party was preparing to face the local body elections.
On her arrival at the Thoothukudi airport here to take part in the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veeran Alagumuthu Kone, Ms. Soundararajan told reporters that as far as the BJP was concerned, a tradition was being maintained to honour freedom fighters.
She said BJP was an emerging alternative to the Dravidian parties in the State.
The party cadre would be engaged in door-to-door campaigning to highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements and such dedication would give them a big opportunity in succeeding at the local body polls.
It would also earn more recognition for the party.
As many as 12,500 field workers and senior functionaries had embarked on a 15-day plan to approach all polling booths for inclusion of new members and agents, hoisting party flags and planting saplings.
