TPCC vice president and former member of Parliament Ponnam Prabhakar has dared Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, during his visit to the town on Wednesday, to accompany him to see the poor sanitation and unscientific beautification of R& B road works in the heart of the town.
Karimnagar Mayor S. Ravinder Singh applying for the information under the RTI Act on the progress of the beautification of R&B roads is an indication of poor quality works and misuse of public money, the Congress leader said.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he appealed to the people to voluntarily abstain from the Haritha Haaram programme in protest against the betrayal of people of Karimnagar district by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti. “It is not a political call, but the people should register their protest by abstaining from the programme,” he said.
Votaries of Telangana
The Chief Minister instead of showing his regards to the people of Karimnagar district, who consistently supported the separate statehood movement, had split the district into seven districts and caused much pain to the people, he said and added that the district the ruling party had also betrayed the district on a number of developmental issues and failed to fulfil the promises made to the people.
Promises not kept
The Chief Minister had failed to take any steps to keep the promise of setting up of government medical college in Karimnagar town for which the Congress government had allocated 25 acres of land at the Satavahana University PG College, Mr. Prabhakar said and threatened to go on a fast if the government fails to announce the medical college in the town before August 4.
The Chief Minister should clarify why the Leather Park, Horticulture University, Textile Park, Sainik School, government engineering college, IT Park, Brindavan and other promises made to the people of the district were not fulfilled by the government even after three years in office, he added.
The former Member of Parliament found fault with the government for not appointing a Vice Chancellor to the Satavahana University in Karimnagar town. He flayed the government for not allocating any funds for the development of Vemulawada, Kondagattu, Dharmapuri and Kaleshwaram temple shrines.
Mr. Prabhakar asked why the government had not taken up the Nedunuru gas based power plant in Thimmapur mandal.
