Urges parties to push it through in monsoon session

CPI(M) Telangana State wing will organise demonstrations and protest programmes in all district and mandal headquarters on July 15, demanding that the Women’s Reservation Bill be introduced and legislated in the monsoon session of Parliament set to begin from July 17.

These protests will be in line with the decision by the party’s central committee for the same across the country, Telangana State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram informed at a press conference here on Tuesday. Mr. Veerabhadram accused all the non-Left parties of misogynist tendencies due to which they have been opposing the Bill for very long.

He opposed the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party raising the demand for BC quota every time the Women’s Reservation Bill is introduced. He also accused RSS’ stand that the Bill will affect familial and societal relations. BJP is blaming lack of consensus for not presenting the Bill in Parliament, even while many anti-people and anti-worker bills have been successfully passed even without unanimous consent.

He also criticised the Telangana government for not inducting even one woman minister in the Cabinet. The eagerness to expand the number of Assembly seats is meant not for democracy, but only to accommodate the disgruntled in the party, he said. He demanded that both TRS and TDP root for the Bill in the upcoming session.
