Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda will take out a peace yatra from Mangaluru to Bantwal to generate confidence among the people in areas affected by recent communal tension.
Mr. Gowda, who resolved the Idga Maidan issue of Hubballi during his tenure as CM, decided to take out a peace yatra along with leaders of all political parties and religious heads of various communities. A peace meeting will also be held at the end of the yatra, said JD(S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy. In view of prohibitory orders in Bantwal,teh yatra will be from Mangaluru to borders of Bantwal. “We will ask Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president G. Parameshwara, State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar to participate to instil confidence among all communities, he said.
