1) International Yoga Day will be celebrated across the globe on Wednesday. The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) is organising International Yoga Day functions across the country to mark the occasion. The Union Government’s 74 ministers would take part in Yoga Day functions in 74 cities on the day. Prime Minister Modi would take part in the Yoga Day function in Lucknow, where AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik would also be present.
2) GTPL Hathway, a 50:50 joint venture between cable TV operator GTPL and Hathway Ltd, is to launch its IPO on Wednesday. The company would offload 1.4 crore equity shares in an ‘Offer for Sale’ to raise Rs 240 crore and another Rs 240 crore by way of offering fresh equity. Money raised from the ‘Offer for Sale’ would be utilised for repaying debt, while the balance Rs 240 crore would be utilised for improving the network infrastructure. The IPO has a price band of Rs 167 and Rs 170 per equity share.
3) SEBI’s board will meet on Wednesday to discuss the actions taken so far against brokers allegedly involved in the Rs 5,600-crore NSEL scam along with the status of the ongoing probe into the NSE co-location issue. Besides, the board will consider a proposal to relax norms for the purchase of distressed assets.
4) More than two decades after registering a Fera case by Enforcement Directorate against AIADMK (Amma) General Secretary V.K. Sasikala, detained in prison in Bengaluru, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Economic Offence-I), Egmore at Allikulam would frame charges against her through video conference on Wednesday. She would appear from the prison through the video conference facility. ED authorities and Karnataka prison officials were making arrangements enabling her to appear before the court through the facility. According to prosecution, five cases have been registered against Sasikala and her relative Bhaskaran, brother of AIADMK Deputy General secretary, TTV Dhinakaran, and JJ Tv by ED on charges of violating FERA.
5) The first meeting in a much-touted new diplomatic and defence dialogue between the US and China will take place in Washington on June 21. North Korea's nuclear weapons programme is likely to top the agenda in the talks, which follow Pentagon chief Jim Mattis's assurances to Asian allies that the initiative will not compromise US opposition to China's activities in the South China Sea. President Donald Trump -- who frequently denounced China on the campaign trail -- has turned to Beijing to help pressure Pyongyang, with Mattis arguably his most important statesman on the issue.
