V-C submits proposal on development activities, new courses

A five-member panel from the University Grants Commission that conducted an audit of academic, financial and infrastructure facilities in Pondicherry University will recommend more funds for taking up various developmental activities in the institution.

According to a release, the committee headed by Prof. Kailash Sudani, Vice-Chancellor, Maharishi Dayananth Saraswathi University, Ajmer, was on the university campus from June 10 to June 16.

Vice-Chancellor (Officiating) Anisa Basheer Khan made a PowerPoint presentation before the members of the committee regarding the existing facilities and development projects envisaged in the institution.

Members of the panel also interacted with faculty members of all departments, members of Finance Committee, Building Committee, Planning Board, Executive Council, Academic Council, University Court and other Non-Teaching and Teaching Associations.

The V-C also submitted a proposal to the panel seeking more funds for the future developmental activities, commencement of new courses, construction of additional buildings, permission for new recruitments (teaching and non-teaching) and purchase of more equipment for research.

Sources said the panel expressed satisfaction over the performance and status of the university and the proposal on recommending additional new courses to be offered.
