Police Commissioner consoles family members

In a freak mishap, an eighth standard student Chavala Sri Harsha, 12, died when a branch of a tree fell on him and pierced his throat at Kommuvari Veedhi in the city on Tuesday.

Harsha, son of Chakravarthy, was studying in Vignana Vihara School in Satyanarayanapuram.

The boy came out on his bicycle to buy milk when the incident happened. Locals rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“A eucalyptus tree which was in the Sishu Vidya Mandir School campus got uprooted and the branches fell on Harsha, while he was proceeding on the main road. The locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, but in vain,” a man said.

Mr. Chakravarthy runs a fancy shop. Despite grief, the family members agreed to donate the eyes of Harsha.

Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang paid tributes to the boy at his residence and consoled his family members. He praised the humanity of the bereaved family, who agreed to donate the eyes of their son.

The locals expressed shock over the tragedy and appealed to the government to help his family.

The Satyanarayanapuram police registered a case.
