Woman, son end lives by jumping before train

A woman and her son committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Devanahalli railway station in Bengaluru rural district on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Sujatha (40) and her son Ravi Teja (20), residents of Yeliyur village in Channarayapatna hobli in Devanahalli taluk. According to the railway police, the incident occurred during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The police received a call at 8.15 am on Tuesday after a few passersby spotted the severed bodies lying on the tracks.
The police also recovered a suicide note from Teja’s pocket which stated that no one was responsible for their deaths. The police have no clue about what time the two came to the spot or which train hit them. Their severed bodies were found near Devanahalli railway station. The police shifted their bodies for postmortem after the woman’s husband Subramani identified them.
Subramani told the police that both the mother and son were depressed over the death of Teja’s younger brother three days ago. Sujatha and Teja were very close to the boy, the police said. The police have registered a case of unnatural deaths and are investigating.
