Quantum to be increased if level in Godavari goes up

Bringing cheer to farmers of Krishna delta, 3,100 cusecs of Godavari water was released from the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation scheme on Monday.

According to Superintending Engineer of the PLI scheme V.S. Ramesh Babu, the water was released by operating nine pumps. It would reach the delta in two days through the right main canal and eventually the Budameru diversion channel, covering a distance of 193 km.

Mr. Ramesh Babu said it was decided to release water after the level at the Pattiseema point touched 14.16 metres.

“Keeping this in view, we have been coordinating with Vijayawada irrigation circle officials, right main canal officials and head works Superintendent Engineer on discharge of water on a daily basis,” he said.

Depending on the surplus, the quantum of release would be increased by operating all the 24 pumps. Water was last released from Pattiseema on December 10 last.
