Training session to be held at MCH tomorrow

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the International Yoga Day celebrations in the State being organised under Yoga Association of Kerala here on June 21.

Yoga practitioner Sri M of Satsang Foundation will be the chief guest at the function to be held at 4 p.m. at the Jimmy George Indoor stadium here. Sri M will also deliver the Yoga Day message, Anavoor Nagappan, chairman, Organising Committee, told a press conference here on Monday. Select 1,000 students will stage a yoga demonstration for 30 minutes at the stadium.

The Centre for Adult and Continuing Education and Extension, under the University of Kerala, has commenced free yoga classes for the public at the Museum premises. The classes that have been organised in connection with the International Day of Yoga got underway on June 14 and will conclude on June 21.

A training session in Yoga will be organised at the auditorium of the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) from 8 a.m. on June 21. College Principal Thomas Mathew will formally launch the programme. Following the classes, a continuing medical education programme will be held on the theme ‘Yoga and Physical-Mental Health’ from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre will conduct the observance on June 21 by undertaking a practice session with focus on the ‘Sivananda style of practising Yoga’ and its benefits.
