Two bodies of a woman and youth were found along the railway track near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday. The duo have been identified as Sujatha (40) and her son Suryateja (18).

A few passers-by, who noticed the mutilated bodies, alerted the police. The Yeshwanthpura Railway Police rushed to the spot and send the bodies for post-mortem. The police also found a suicide note in the hand of the youth, stating that no one was responsible for their death.

The police suspect that the duo had committed suicide. According to the police, Sujatha was married to Subramani, a private firm employee, for 20 years. An alcoholic, he used to beat up the wife and their two sons. Three days ago, Subramani allegedly came home drunk and started beating Sujatha. When their younger son, Chandrateja (15), tried to intervene, the father beat him up as well. Depressed, the boy committed suicide by consuming pesticide. The mother and son ended their lives after performing the last rites for Chandrateja, the police said.

The police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against Subramani.
